Assignment:
Research a subject matter of interest to you and be able to present a multi-factual or multi-stepped distilled information exchange that moves your audience from a state of lack of knowledge to a state of greater knowledge through visual communication.
Response:
The Young Voters Vote, And How The Youth Vote. - My project is focused on civic engagement, but more specifically amongst young people ages 18-29. In my research I found that young people make up the largest voting demographic with around 49 million eligible and potential voters, only 50% (24 million) of those eligible voted. It was this key statistic that really caught my interest and decided to investigate further. The young demographic is larger than the senior demographic. In addition to being the largest voting populace, young voters have never been more educated or in a debt than another generation to come before it. With these two contrasting ideas in a changing society, it is my hope that this project motivates more people my age to perform their civic duty. "The ballot is stronger than the bullet." - Abraham Lincoln "For democracy to survive, it requires civic engagement."
